Exhibitions in 2018

Four Triptychs from the Sydney’s Rock n Roll series where exhibited doing Headon May 2018 at the Novae Gallery, BotanyWalter Shepherd has continued to realise the power of visual metaphors and started to produce new work in photo artistry using material from his travels and studio shoots.

Featuring Nick Hope
Nick Hope has been playing bass guitar for 47 years in Sydney Australia with over 30 bands, covering various music genres like rock, folk, jazz, fusion and blues. His art form is transient and impermanent like the movement in time of light and shadow. This portrait triptych tells this story starting with a statement of anonymity. Nick is now a competent song writer composer and mentors younger players in the art of music.

During 2017 I attend a 10 week course on "the study of portrait" at contactsheet.com.au

Facilitator - Paul McDonald founder of contactsheet.

During the course I created and produced the Sydney’s Rock n Roll series of portraits presented as triptychs.

In August 2018 contactsheet held a exhibition of work produced by attendees at the "study of the portrait course'' during 2017 /2018.

Sydney’s Rock n Roll is a series of portraits presented as triptychs. Each photo is a visual metaphor about the musician or the music or Sydney’s rock n roll architecture.
"A part of all art is to make silence speak.
The things left out in painting, the note withheld in music, the void in architecture—all are as necessary and as active as the utterance itself." —Freya Stark
