ZV WEATHER FORECASTERS

Zachary Veal -- Teenager Meteorologist

SOCIAL:

Zachary Veal is your "Teenager Meteorologist" forecasting the weather for both Metro Detroit and all of Southeastern Michigan.

He was born in September of 2004 in Pontiac, Michigan.

It all started back in 2020 when Zachary got extremely interested in the weather, big-time!

"I just love what my God/Jesus pours down on this beautiful planet Earth, whether it be rain or snow," he says. "And that's the reason why I love to forecast the weather here!"

Zachary delivers both the weather forecasts and the jokes of the day everyday at Dakota High School in Macomb Township, Michigan which is something that he's been doing since his sophomore or 10th Grade year there.

"It's extremely fun doing that," he says. "It gets me a chance to showcase my weather talent and it makes my friends all fired up when they hear my jokes. I love it when I go through my school day hearing them say 'I like hearing your jokes!' or: 'What's the weather looking like today?' It's like I'm famous!!"

He plans to attend either Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan or Michigan Tech in Houghton, Michigan for college to major in meteorology and then, major in broadcasting.

"I want to be a meteorologist myself on Local 4 News or WDIV one day," he says. "I love watching my favorite weatherman Brandon Roux. He's great at what he does and I love how enthusiastic he is at doing the weather!"

Zachary is also scheduled to get a personal tour with Brandon and with potentially WXYZ or Channel 7 Action News' meteorologist Kevin Jeanes at a look at their models.

"It will be something to look forward to, once COVID-19 settles down," he says. "So in the meantime, I cannot wait to meet both of them in-person!!"

Finally, Zachary is also a new National Weather Service (NWS) Skywarn Spotter for all of Southeastern Michigan since July of 2022.

"The job is pretty simple," he says. "All you got to do it both report and provide both timely and accurate severe weather reports to the National Weather Service. And then, they will review them. That's pretty much all there is to it."
