About the Artist: Cristal Melissa Ramos Yañez
Cristal Melissa Ramos Yañez, 22, was born and raised in San Miguel de Allende, México. Her love of art began in childhood when she began drawing in pencil. As her skills as an artist grew, she began painting in oil and now works for a specialty clothing company, hand-painting ball gowns. In her spare time, Cristal enjoys painting, writing poetry, and cooking Mexican and Italian food.
A rescued street dog panics every time his human leaves him, whether to food shop or visit the doctor. We learn that Taco was abandoned as a tiny puppy when his mother was picked up by dog catchers. He is rescued by a sweet old lady, but she dies, and he is alone again.
He suffers separation anxiety, slipping out the door in search of her. He is picked up at a taco stand by another kind woman, Kate, who tries everything to help him understand he has a forever home with her. But he keeps escaping when she goes out, trying to find her or his former human. Finally, Kate's grandson figures out a way to help Taco be less afraid. Included are activity pages to color, draw, and write.
