This country desperately needs a National Truth Commission. A two-part commission that will help to inform Americans of the absolute truth. Of course, the very creation of a National Truth Commission will immediately help expose the dishonest media platforms as they will be the first to condemn and rally against such a commission.

In this era of organized and effective propaganda 'News' media, daily opinion ‘News’ radio broadcasts and the suppression of honest journalists, how do we Americans get the truth? The actual factual truth? Add social media open to the world's influence and Artificial Intelligent Algorithms feeding the masses confusion and conspiracies, it becomes a daunting and disturbing task to find the truth. In this atmosphere, how do we Americans get the truth? The actual factual truth? And how will we know for sure if it’s really the truth? In 2011, the Brazilian government formed a National Truth Commission to investigate the lawless behavior of the military dictatorship that ruled Brazil from 1964 to 1985. In 1983 the Argentine government formed a similar commission to find the truth of what happened to tens of thousands of civilians who disappeared during their military coup and dictatorship from 1976 to 1983 resulting in a national awareness and realization of the dangers of a military dictatorship. The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission of 1996 was set up by the Government of National Unity to help deal with what happened under apartheid. Isn’t it obvious Americans need some kind of National Truth Commission?!

Throughout modern history around the globe at various times and for various reasons, a nations citizens have demanded the truth and have pushed their government officials to form these truth commissions. Likewise, America and the current American consciousness are in desperate need of a National Truth Commission. A commission that will make citizens aware of media services proven to report actual factual information and those news and opinion services that lie and/or spin the facts to promote misleading information. Perhaps, laws should be introduced and passed making news services accountable when falsehoods or misleading news information are released, promoted and/or published, LIKE WE USED TO HAVE! Remember the ‘Fairness Doctrine’ discussed in an earlier chapter?

A new license, much like a license to practice law, or medicine should be implemented for journalists and ‘News’ outlets. One with an ‘Oath to the Truth’ with rules and consequences should a journalist or media source present untruthful information.

The Biden/Harris administration should start a two-part commission. It would serve the better interests of all Americans if they had a viable, vetted pertinent news and information outlet they knew they could trust. I suggest it could be created and function something like this:

Part A.) A commission of some 24 young, college students majoring in analytics, research, and statistics. 8 each registered Republicans, Democrats and Independents, who go back into recent decades of transcripts from the most watched, read and listened to news and opinion news media outlets to discover, uncover and expose for all Americans exactly who has been presenting the truth and who has been spinning and lying. Once the proven lying media sources have been identified, they should be shamed, made to comply or shut down altogether.

Part B.) A commission made up of more or less the same type of panel as Part A, who: On a daily basis, review the most popular news and opinion news outlet stories being presented about current important topics to monitor and report on which media outlets are being truthful and which are being dishonest. They can then serve as an additional news outlet where Americans know they will get the unfiltered, unaltered truth.

Think about the impact such a National Truth Commission would have. The more Americans who can decidedly know and understand the actual truth of matters that directly affect their lives and livelihood, the better they can decide with clarity when supporting or voting for any given candidate or policy. This will help correct or stop altogether policies that negatively impact our overall American social condition because we were misled or wrongly influenced by propagandist ‘news’ outlets. President Biden – Please present an Executive Order to start a National Truth Commission!
